Furniture Dents in your Carpets- How to get rid of them

This is so cool. Did you know you can get rid of those horrible furniture dents in your carpets with a Tea Towel and a Steam Iron?

Just put the cloth over the dent or dents and get your Steam Iron on Hot and Steamy. ( Sounds like an XXX rated film) LOL.

Leave the Iron on the spot for a few moments depending on the size and depth of the dent. Make sure that you have it over a Tea Towel.

And Presto no more dent. The Steam from the Iron softens up the compressed dent and it springs back to normal.

It works like a charm. Of course you could always put down Hardwood or Laminate instead of carpet that works too.

This is a lot cheaper. :))

Happy New Year everyone.

Hmmph...and all this time I've been replacing the carpet every time I moved the furniture...
Next, you'll tell me you can use the washer and dryer more than once...rediculous! :)

Tarfers - good tip there!

One thing I always forget to do when putting the furniture back, is to keep those little metal studs on the feet of chairs etc, isolated from said carpet, as they leave rust marks all over the place and those little sods never come out...

Otherwise, Happy New Year!

It is also important that your carpet isn't nylon...:-) Happy new year OT!

The Old Tarf said...

Liiith- you are right nylon carpet esp over here in the cold has a lot of static to it and can be shocking.

Sweet cheeks- Ta, so very much.

Scrobs- Rust is hard thing to get out. I find drinking helps as my vision gets blurred and I cannot see the rustspots.

What else you can do is pick up your cat, rub it backwards across the dented carpet, causing friction and electric currents.

It's not a way to get the dents out of your carpet, but it sure is a fun way to start a fire without using matches.

Happy New Year Daddyo!!

(Unless we're in heat...then do it often!) :)

Hey Tarf,
If I don't have a steam iron could I use my toaster if I fill it with water first?
:)

Mutley- I hope the furniture was drip dry.

Trubes- Thank you, it is frosty and snowing here.

Mermaid- It is fun to do that although scorched cat does smell a little.

Sweet Cheeks- I cannot comment as not being a cat.

Chris H- Happy New Year to you as well.

Sweet Cheeks- I would take the Toast out first as you wouldn't want to have soggy Toast.
