Hurricane Bill- We dodged a bullet on this one

Listening to the News and most people here are complaining that nothing happened with Hurricane Bill . Give it a rest folks, the eye of the storm was 75km off shore here in Halifax/Dartmouth just a slight change in direction and it could have come all along the actual coastline of Nova Scotia or right over us like it did with Hurricane Juan. We where very lucky this time. Also it came in broad daylight so you could see what was going on.

So you had the usual bunch of idiots standing on the shoreline watching the storm surges and the waves. Only 3 swept off Peggy's Cove this time. I do not know what is wrong with these people or the Media. The Media reports," no one is to go near the shoreline", so what do they do. They send some hapless reporter and cameraman to talk with the nuts who are standing on the slippery rocks as the waves are pounding around them. To ask them why are you out here putting your life in danger. Get a life!!!
( It must be a ploy by the News Media to down size. "We only lost 2 this storm, get a few more next time") ;)

So when the next one comes along. Not many will take any notice and the News/ Weather People will forecast it a little wrong or it will go off track at the last moment and then Wham, Bam, Slam, OH, Dam,Dam Dam.

One of my earliest memories was this.

I was only three, nearly four but I remember my mother panicking about my brother walking home from school and going out to look for him. She left me at home and the wind was SCREAMING and the trees bashing against the window...

Tarfers, they had to send a couple (two?) of helicopters to help someone (pissed) off Folkestone beach over the weekend.

The usual fat ugly ghoulish public stood in the way of the rotors, and even stopped it taking off!

Halfwits, thickos and plain idiots...

Glad you're riding out the storm Tarfers. Whenever there is a sea storm here, there are always idiots dodging the waves.
If, they are lucky enough to be rescued by the brave rescue teams, they should be made to pay the costs incurred.
Also, made to serve a few shifts with rescue services.
That may just knock some sense in their dumb heads!

I was woken up in the police section house during the storms of '87 and told to go and patrol the streets (what for ???)

It was unbelievable chaos. I saw trees uprooted like they were daisies, and scaffoldings torn appart like stacked playing cards.

Anyway, my old chum. A skype session in order week after next ??

Also could you give your daughter my email address and have her contact me please ?
